Network inventory module

This module is designed to keep records on network resources (ports, telephone lines, etc) to collect the information on occupied and available resources, and to check the capability of connecting new clients.

Geographically distributed structure of computer networks can cover many segments. Connected through different network devices, the segments of upper and lower levels form a hierarchical tree-like topology. The larger the network and the wider its geographical cover, the more important is the accounting for available and occupied network equipment.

Network topology is represented in tables showing the information on the network devices on different hierarchy levels. Every device has enumerated both available resources and the resources occupied by upper/lower level devices and clients.

Module characteristics:

  • The module allows describing the topology of any multi-layer network independently of its complexity.
  • The module provides flexible tools to specify the characteristics of network devices. For every type of equipment you can specify its own set of characteristics according to the network inventory requirements of a specific provider, for example: inventory numbers, addresses, responsible persons, etc.

The primary objects in network resource inventory of a provider are access points (AP), which correspond to the network devices used to render the telecommunication services. When specifying the access points you indicate the type of equipment (device), its characteristics and location, the resources it provides, etc.

Then the system builds the hierarchical structure of access points corresponding to the provider's network structure.

The module also provides reports on network resources that help provider account for available and occupied network equipment based on clients and devices.
