The function of connection to broadband services is designed for departments of connection, upgrading and control of service quality. The function ensures efficiency of subscribers connection and prevents line overload.
Before connection to the subscribers line, there are checked characteristics of existing "neighboring" lines and estimated the margin of the balance signal/noise. If the margin is acceptable, connection to the line takes place, after which the margin of the balance signal/noise is estimated again, as well as the maximum speed on all lines and the number of errors. Presence of the margin on the said parameters and absence of errors allow to open access to services for subscriber. Below is the checking algorithm:
| Neighboring
lines parameters | Parameter specification |
| Data transfer speed | – speed up/down
– current speed/speed for a week/average for "neighbors" – hourly speed diagram |
| Balance signal/noise | – balance up/down
– current balance/average for "neighbors"/balance for a week – hourly balance diagram |
| Signal attenuation | – attenuation up/down
– current attenuation/average for "neighbors"/attenuation for a week – hourly attenuation diagram |
| Number of errors | – ES/SES
– errors for 24 hours/week/average for "neighbors" during 24 hours – hourly error distribution diagram |
The given parameters are estimated automatically, following which there is carried out partitioning of key performance indexes (KPI) into a unified key quality index (KQI) of the line average quality on connection (measured on a 5 point scale). Data on KPI and the aggregate KQI are displayed before connection and after connection.
