DSLmaster system

Functional description

Activation and upgrading of services for a group of subscribers

The function of activation and upgrading of services is designed for departments of connection, support and services quality control. The function allows to check the possibility of providing of services, which depend on subscribers line quality.

Below is the list of services, for which condition of subscribers lie is critical:

  • interactive TV service (IPTV);
  • high definition TV service (HDTV);
  • data files handling service;
  • SaaS systems;
  • systems, which realize information security algorithms.

Below is description of the checking algorithm as exemplified by an order for connection to IPTV.

1. DSL-connection condition is checked (speed margin, value of current quality indexes). There are possible the following results:

  • when margin is present, the order is approved;
  • if the margin is insufficient, a request for improvement of quality indexes is sent to the line-cable department.

2. According to the customer’s identifier there is defined the DSLAM port number, and the speed margin MaxDn – Dn is requested.

3. Speed margin is checked. If it exceeds the normal rate, the order is approved.

If the margin is less than the normal rate or is equal to it, the order is forwarded to the operations department for estimation of technical capabilities with specification of parameters:

  • mode (ADSL, ADSL2+, …);
  • Bit-Tone-Allocation;
  • margin on the noise level (NM-Dn);
  • signal attenuation (ATN-Dn);
  • error seconds ES;
  • severely errored seconds SES.

Specified indexes are measured automatically, and then there is performed partitioning of KPI into a unified KQI of the line average quality on connection (measured of a 5 point scale). Data on each KPI and aggregated KQI are displayed before and after connection to a new service.
