Access points

Objects "Access point" correspond to network appliances, through which customers receive services. Some of these appliances interact with Billmaster directly over the RADIUS protocol, interaction with other programs happens indirectly, through the use of intermediate collector-programs. In both cases setting of objects "Access point" allow to identify network appliances when receiving any information from them.

Objects "Access point" not only correspond to network appliances, but they are also related to specific types of telecommunication services. For example, if the network access server provides Dial-Up and VoIP services, in Billmaster there is created the access point for each service type. When receiving RADIUS-packages Billmaster identifies types of services they belong to, and then defines the access point.

Below is the list of main tasks, fulfillment of which is affected by access point settings:

  • identification of network appliances, which send RADIUS-packages;
  • customers’ authorization (authorization ways can be specified in access point settings);
  • setting of RADIUS-packages receipt time-outs and maximum possible duration of sessions;
  • import of information about services from files, which contain CDR-packages;
  • sending of control commands to network appliances.
